With Jack Black’s sudden move to create a YouTube channel many people have been making comments such as “fuck pewdiepie sub to jack black”. The difference between the two however, and the reason that keeping pewdiepie at number one is important, is because pewdiepie is an independently made channel. He was a college student who built a name for himself mostly on his own. Pewdiepie does now have editors but for a while it was just him, pumping out 2 videos every single day. Jack Black is starting this with already being a big name celebrity, and T-Series is a full on company. Both have the funds, fans, and means to reach number one without having to work too hard. Yes you can argue that pewdiepie has done bad and questionable things, and I’m not denying that at all, but YouTube is a place for creators to post original content and make a name for themselves, and if a company or celebrity is to take that the number 1 spot for subscribers then it takes something away from YouTube being for original content creators.
There is zero “importance” to keeping pewds at number one.
I’d rather watch some dude and his son having a good old time.

It’s also worth noting that their net worth are not very different and some put Poods as actively having more than Jack Black. Felix has professional editors working for him. So far Jack just has his son doing editing.
These people saying pewds is “independent” and Jack isn’t must have some interesting metrics.
It’s always interesting to see people say things like ‘pewdiepie has done bad and questionable things’ who aren’t willing to acknowledge that these things include:
- Getting the very poor kicked off a money-making platform to make an anti-semitic joke
- The rape jokes
- The other rape jokes
- The steady adoption of more and more alt-right terminology
- The continuing rise of the rape jokes
- The escalating use of racial slurs
Pewdiepie is, at this point, a man yelling racial slurs and normalising the idea of alt-right ideas to an audience of, quite literally, millions of tweens. Whether he’s actually TAKEN the slide to the alt-right his path suggests or not, he’s spending a lot of time effectively encouraging young, impressionable minds to adopt racist attitudes and continue propagating racist jokes.
I’d have a lot more sympathy for him if he wasn’t.
Mind you, he wouldn’t need any sympathy if he wasn’t.
if you’re offline or away and i message you something (like a link to a meme or a picture or w/e) honestly just assume that i’m just leaving it there for when you get back and not expecting you to answer straight away. i don’t need you to respond with “hey, sorry, i wasn’t at the computer!” or anything. i was leaving u a gift for later.
This also applies if you’re online and just don’t want to or have the energy to deal with humans in the moment. Just because we have the ability to reply in real time does not mean we have the obligation.
